The Grand Slam of Curling is a prestigious curling tournament series that brings together some of the world’s best curling teams to compete in high-level tournaments. In both 2018 and 2019, the Grand Slam of Curling came to St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, bringing with it some of the most exciting curling action in the world.
The 2018 event, known as the Boost National, was held at Mile One Centre in downtown St. John’s. This event attracted some of the top teams in the world, including Olympic gold medalists like Brad Jacobs and Jennifer Jones. The competition was fierce, with teams battling it out on the ice to try to secure a spot in the playoffs and ultimately compete for the championship title.
The following year, in 2019, St. John’s once again played host to the Grand Slam of Curling, this time with the Tour Challenge. This event, held at the Conception Bay South Arena, brought together even more top-level teams from around the world. Once again, the competition was intense, with teams battling it out on the ice in front of enthusiastic crowds of curling fans.
The Grand Slam of Curling events in St. John’s in 2018 and 2019 were a testament to the passion for curling in Newfoundland and Labrador and the province’s ability to host top-level sporting events. The tournaments attracted visitors from around the world, providing a boost to the local economy and showcasing the beauty of the province to a global audience.
