In the summer of 2019, St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, played host to the Canadian Women’s Fastpitch Championships, bringing together the best female softball players from across the country to compete for the national championship title.
The tournament was held at Lions Park, which is located in the east end of St. John’s. The park boasts four softball fields, with the main field featuring seating for spectators, a press box, and a scoreboard. The facilities provided the perfect backdrop for this high-level competition.
The tournament featured teams from every province and territory in Canada, with players ranging in age from 16 to 21 years old. The competition was intense, with teams battling it out on the diamond to try to secure a spot in the playoffs and ultimately compete for the championship title.
The tournament was a tremendous success, with the people of Newfoundland and Labrador welcoming players, coaches, and fans from across the country with open arms. The event was also an economic boost to the province, with participants and spectators contributing to local businesses and the overall economy.
Celebrate NL was proud to be part of this exciting event, which showcased the province’s hospitality, love for sports, and community spirit. We look forward to welcoming more national sporting events to our province and continuing to celebrate the passion and talent of female softball players in Canada.
