Newfoundland and Labrador had the privilege of hosting the prestigious Commonwealth Bench Press and Powerlifting Championships in September 2019. The competition took place at the Delta Hotel in St. John’s, attracting some of the world’s top bench press and powerlifting athletes from across the Commonwealth.

The competition featured several weight categories and age groups, with athletes competing in various events such as bench press, deadlift, and squat. Newfoundlanders had the opportunity to witness incredible displays of strength, as athletes lifted weights ranging from hundreds to over a thousand pounds.

The championship was an opportunity for the province to showcase its hospitality and scenic beauty to the world. Athletes and their families were welcomed with open arms by the locals, and many of them had the chance to explore the natural wonders of the province.

The competition was a tremendous success, with Newfoundland and Labrador being commended for its excellent organization, facilities, and accommodations. The event was also a significant boost to the local economy, with visitors from around the world contributing to local businesses and the province’s tourism industry.
