2024 is the Year of the Arts in Newfoundland and Labrador, a celebration of our province’s vibrant arts and cultural sectors.
Celebrate NL is pleased to announce an opportunity for financial support to professional arts organizations for a single, large-scale and/or wide-reaching project of cultural significance.
Eligible sectors include the following:
- Performing Arts
- Film, Media, and Digital Arts
- Visual Arts
- Literary Arts
- Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary Arts
- be presentation or market-ready in 2024;
- be delivered in multiple regions of Newfoundland and Labrador;
- be a new initiative or significant new extension of an existing project; and
- have secured a minimum of 30% of the total cost of the project (excluding any operational expenses) at the time of application from non-provincial government sources.
Applicants are expected to:
- be a not-for-profit or for-profit professional arts organization that has the creation and/or presentation of works of art as its primary activity;
- have an established track record in their discipline;
- demonstrate relevant managerial, professional, financial and technical capacity;
- demonstrate a viable project plan;
- pay artist fees established by relevant artists associations representing the interests of professional artists;
- have internal or external oversight of the organization’s finances and produce an annual financial statement; and
- be incorporated in the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and be in good standing.
Preference will be given to groups with an established track record of success and a significant professional commitment to cultural development in the province.
Operational and capital expenses are ineligible.
ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
Assessment will take into consideration:
- Clear articulation of the project;
- Benefit, significance, and impact of the project;
- Timeliness and relevance of project;
- Ability to achieve planning, timeline, and delivery;
- Organizational capacity;
- Role of partners/collaborators as defined;
- Revenue details on income and funding partners;
- Pay fees at established national standards; and
- Potential to build cultural capacity.
APPLICATION PROCESS AND DEADLINES
Expressions of Interest should be concise, comprehensive and professional, and must include a brief profile of the organization and a balanced budget.
Only one Expression of Interest per organization will be accepted.

Expressions of Interest will be considered as they are received.
Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Program staff will contact applicants if applications are missing attachments or other information.
